The Patent Platform Built for What the Work Actually Demands

By Paul Lee, Co-Founder & CEO, Patlytics
For more than a decade in venture, I watched the same problem repeat. Talented IP attorneys at top firms, handling some of the most consequential work in business, stitching together disconnected tools to get through a single matter. Every handoff was manual. Every stage was rebuilt from scratch.
The subject matter was a company's most valuable asset. The software managing it was not built for the job.
After years of observing from the sidelines, a desire to act, coupled with a growing conviction, led me to co-found Patlytics with my long-term friend and incredible CTO, Arthur Jen, and we were lucky to be soon joined by an exceptional founding team.
After two and a half years of heads-down building, today we are proud to announce a $40 million Series B led by SignalFire, with participation from N47, Myriad Venture Partners, Relativity, Alumni Ventures, Antiportfolio Ventures, and BAM Corner Point, bringing total funding to approximately $65 million.
I learned early on that IP attorneys were dealing with problems more pervasive than outdated software. They were absorbing astronomical dockets while maintaining the same headcount, working under tight timelines while clients demanded faster turnaround on work that kept getting more technically complex. The inefficiencies compounded. Each broken handoff made the next stage harder.
What became clear was that no single fix would hold. Replacing one link in a broken chain just gives you a newer weak point. The problem was the chain itself. The only real answer was to rebuild it.
That's what Patlytics is: an end-to-end platform for the full patent lifecycle. Every output has to hold up to scrutiny, as litigation outcomes can shape companies' competitive positions for decades. We took this to heart from day one.
The results from the firms using it: up to 90% reduction in project time. Claim charts that used to run $30K+ in attorney time, completed at a fraction of that cost.
40% of the AmLaw 100 is on the platform — prestigious firms like Quinn Emanuel, Latham & Watkins, Foley & Lardner, and Susman Godfrey, organizations I am humbled to partner with. Alongside them, sophisticated corporate IP teams at some of the most innovative companies in the world — Rivian, Google, Panasonic, Sanofi, and Canon.
Next up: a shared workspace for firm-to-corporate collaboration, autonomous agents across drafting and research, deeper capabilities for the chem-bio domain, and continued expansion into EMEA. Grateful to SignalFire, N47, the full investor group, and our one-of-a-kind team for the conviction.
If you're doing IP work, we'd love to see how we can help.
