With nearly four decades of experience leading global IP litigation and licensing efforts at Canon, Mr. Sanatake brings expertise in large-scale IP strategy, litigation, and licensing.

Mr. Sanatake currently oversees all IP activities worldwide for Canon – a technology-led company that has been in the top 10 of issued U.S. patents for 42 consecutive years, holds over 90,000 patents in force, and files 10,000 patent applications annually. Over his career, he has played a central role in shaping Canon’s global IP strategy, managing complex licensing programs, and high-stakes negotiations across a wide range of technology sectors.

With over 30 years of patent litigation and licensing experience, Mr. Sanatake is an expert IP strategist, facilitator, influencer, and negotiator. In addition to his leadership at Canon, Mr. Sanatake serves as a board member of LOT Network and is active in numerous IP-focused industry organizations and policy discussions. His perspective reflects both deep operational experience and a broad, international view of IP systems and standards.

Mr. Sanatake holds a Master of Laws (LLM) from Fordham University School of Law and has spent nearly 40 years at Canon, building and overseeing one of the most sophisticated corporate IP organizations in the world.

As a member of the Patlytics Advisory Board, Mr. Sanatake will provide strategic insight, drawing on his decades of personal experience in global IP leadership, on how AI-powered tools can support global patent litigation, licensing strategy, portfolio optimization, and executive-level IP decision-making, across large, multinational organizations.

同氏は、これまでのキャリアにおいて、キヤノンのグローバル知的財産戦略の構築と実行に中心的な役割を果たし、高度なライセンスプログラムの運営統括や、多様な技術分野における重要な交渉を主導してきました。さらに、30年以上にわたる特許訴訟およびライセシング分野の経験を持つ真竹氏は、知財戦略の第一人者であり、多様な利害関係者を束ねる合意形成のリーダーとして、また影響力のある交渉のプロフェッショナルとして広く知られています。

加えて、LOT Networkのボードメンバーを務めるほか、知的財産分野における業界団体や政策議論にも積極的に関与しており、実務経験に加えて、国際的な知的財産制度・標準に対する深い理解をお持ちです。

また、フォーダム大学ロースクールにて法学修士（LLM）を取得し、約40年にわたりキヤノンに在籍。世界でも有数の高度な企業知財組織の構築および統括に携わってきました。
